Dying Without God

 

A youth at one of the large iron works in Sheffield was some time ago accidentally thrown on to a red hot amour plate. When he was rolled off by his fellow workmen, it was doubtful if he could live, as nearly all one side of him was burned to the bone. His workmates cried, “Send for the doctor,” but the poor suffering youth cried, “Never mind sending for the doctor; is there anyone here can tell me how to get saved? My soul has been neglected, and I’m dying without God. Who can help me?”

 

Although there were three hundred men around him, there was no one who could tell him the way of salvation. After twenty minutes of untold agony he died as he had lived.

The man who saw this accident, and heard the cries of the dying youth, was a wretched backslider, and when I asked him how he felt about the matter, he said, “I have heard his cries ever since, and wished I could have stooped down and pointed him to Jesus, but my life closed my lips.”

Does your life tell sinners that you are saved, or does it close your lips, when those around hear your talk and witness your actions?

While I generally enjoy your site and I do read the articles posted there often, I found your article "Dying without God" a bit troubling. The main issue I take with it is that in your example, a young man was "dying without God" and realized it in the last moments of his life. It was also in that moment that he confessed his sin (stated he didn't know God and that he had neglected his own soul by not knowing God), asked for forgiveness (when he asked who could help him, he was crying out to God, not just the bystanders) and was repentant. In other words, he asked, sought and knocked. Our God, a just God, would have accepted him into salvation at that point just as Christ had accepted the thief on the cross. If one were to take your article at face value, the young man asked, but was not given; sought but could not find; and knocked but the door went unanswered. Since God, nor His word, can be contradictory, how can you continue on with the article after making such a declaration? I understand the point you are trying to make in the article, but using an example that is totally contradictory to the word of God distracts from the credibility of your attempt.

Dying Without  God

I was talking to some folks, good bible believing folks and the topic of salvation came up. I asked them if they could share the gospel with someone out of the scriptures and what scriptures would they use.

The air became "uncomfortable."

One spoke up and said, well I would use John 3:16.

I asked "How can you share the gospel with John 3:16?"

"well all one has to do is believe and that person will go to heaven. "

I asked, "do you know that in James  it says…"

James 2:19 (KJV)  Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

I said that here in scripture we see that the also devils believe, will they go to heaven?

Silence…No one knew how to answer this.

Folks, many good bible believing Christians do not know how to share the gospel. We live in a world where millions of people never heard of Jesus Christ, never seen a Bible and do not know who God is.

The Inconvenience of Truth

It’s funny, but in America it is always the “right” that is accused of censorship. Whenever implications of burning books or attempts at squelching free speech are made, it is always the “conservatives” that get the blame.

I don’t know where that ruse got started but it is time we pinned that tail on the right donkey.

The left are the most intolerant, mean-spirited, unfair vermin that one could ever associate with. Their whole philosophy is based on lies, and the perpetuation of those lies, no matter what the evidence shows.

Viewpoint discrimination is the club that the intolerant-ones wield. If they don’t agree with your position they simply prevent it from being presented. The idea of “informed debate” is something that is anathema to them. Not only won’t they allow “the other side” to be presented, they deny there is another side. Their ideas win the day because they only allow their ideas on the field.

Christianity is The Religion of Peace

It is blatantly wrong “to equate all of the Muslim religion to evil.” To say that is “tantamount to a former Baptist going to Saudi Arabia and equating all Baptists with abortion-doctor killers.”

So says Mr. J. Todd Foster, the managing editor of the Bristol Herald Courier, in a Nov. 8, 2009, article against me.

Can one even rightfully compare Evangelicals or Catholics to Muslims?

Here is my challenge to Foster: I am willing to go to the largest mass at the Vatican in Rome dressed up in Muslim garb with a Koran in hand if Foster agrees to go to the Hajj in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, with a visible cross around his neck. If Foster turns up unscathed I will pay him the sum of $15,000, apologize and repent publicly from saying anything against Islam or Muslims.

Foster won’t take the challenge. I guarantee it. Why? Because he knows that I am right and he is wrong.

The False Prophet: Last and Final Economic Guru

The Bible tells us that a time will come when commerce—the act of buying and selling—can be controlled worldwide. This facility will actually be invoked at one point during the Great Tribulation period, “He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name” (Revelation 13:16-17).

This is an oft-referenced verse, infamously misquoted and misinterpreted by Christians and unbelievers alike. It is the source of countless vain speculations about the identity of the “mark” and the “number.” However, the most critical error concerns the identity of who it is that actually brings in these controls. It is not the first beast with 7 heads, which is of the lineage that gives rise to the physical Antichrist. Rather it is the second beast (which emerges from earth and has two horns like a lamb) that brings in these commercial controls. This latter beast is commonly linked with the False Prophet, who is mentioned in Revelation 16:13.

State of the Obamanation

As America prepares for this year's State of the Union address, it is a very different country than the one Obama addressed one year ago.  All the President's handlers say this is his chance to "reconnect" with the middle-class.

From his war on the banks, to his health-care reform that could cost taxpayers for generations, president Obama's policies have sent a strong message that Washington really doesn't care about the middle-class.

Since the Massachusetts election, the Obama administration now claims it wants to change all that, while at the same time, denying the problem belongs to his administration.

 Worried about changing the health-care system as we are about getting by week to week," Schumer said.

Obama is expected to use his State of the Union address to move closer to the middle, according to Schumer.

A Letter From PZ Insider Tomi

Love and Warm Greetings to my brothers and sisters in Christ,
 
My name is Tomi and my husband Rick and I would like to bring up one very important subject and I hope that all of you dear brothers and sisters consider what I have to say and take it to the Lord. 

Along with most of you, Rick and I are huge fans of Ray and Tracy Gano.  They have dedicated their lives to God and to witnessing and teaching, lecturing and writing, producing videos and radio programs and so much more all for their love of God and their love for each and every one of us and every friend they have yet to meet and bring their awesome gift of their knowledge of God's Word and His awesome plans for eternal life.  They give so much and ask for so little. 

And, this is the subject I wish to bring up; Ray and Tracye's only source of income is through donations and those donations need to come from us, dear ones.  They give 100% to us and I know they are so grateful for our thanks and kind words, but they need a little bit more.  I know how bad the economy is.  Rick and I are self-employed and our struggle is getting worse and worse and we don't know how much longer we can hang on, so know that I would not ask any of you to do something that Ridk and I won't or cannot do.  Even $5 or $10 a month to Ray and Tracye could mean gas to get to his next lecture, or ink for the computer that brings us so much information and teaching from both of them. 

I simply ask that everyone consider the needs of our dear friends and teachers and prayerfully decide on making whatever kind of monetary commitment they can make to be part of keeping Ray and Tracye doing God's work.
