A Time To Witness
By Ray Gano
Recently I posted a responce to a Christian on another site that was feeling down about getting out there and witnessing. I wanted to encourage all of you by sharing what I wrote her.
Here is what she said…
Even though I have been a Christian for many years, I have done little witnessing. Won't go into all the whys and wherefores, so don't attack! Now I'm feeling like God is telling me to get up to snuff here so I can be effective. I would love some input from those of you who 1) remember Scripture better than I do (I am unable to memorize anything, not just Scripture), and 2) can answer my questions about who should witness how. I have a fear of rejection that hasn't been healed yet. And that's my biggest problem in verbally witnessing. (I pray daily about this) Am I alone?
I know this is a prophesy site, so hope you don't mind my veering off the main subject a moment.
What I want to do is focus on some of the high points here.
>>> Even though I have been a Christian for many years, I have done little witnessing.
False. You have witnessed daily to someone because you are a Christian.
James 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. (KJV)
If you are a Christian, your works have shown to others as to who you serve, and that is Christ Jesus.
>>Now I'm feeling like God is telling me to get up to snuff here so I can be effective.
Welcome to the Wall Watchman!!!
Being students of Bible Prophecy we are called to be watchmen on the wall. Why else do all of us live on FOXNEWS and surf the other news sites every hour we get?
Jack Kinsella said it best on our Sunday morning service here at the Gano Ranch a few weekends ago. We live in a day of miracles. We can make the blind see, the deaf hear, raise the dead and even create life in a test tube. But it is Bible Prophecy that is the Signature of God in these last days. These days of human miracles.
How can you be effective? This is easy. Here is what God’s Word states…
1Peter 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: (KJV)
We as students of Bible Prophecy have it great. Not only do we know what is going on in the world, we also know why.
Do you know the olivet discourse? You state you do not know scripture, but I bet you know this one..
Luke 21:8 - 11 And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them. But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by. Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven. (KJV)
How many times do you hear people talking about one of the above topics? It is everywhere!!! At work, at the day care, in the shopping malls, heck even In the line at Walmart. It is everywhere. Earthquakes, wars, famine, false teaching, you get the idea.
What does 1 Peter 3:15 say again??
Always be ready to share the hope that is within you.
Now, second easy part. Rejection.
They are not rejecting you, you are just the donkey carrying the message, like Jack as well as I like to say.
What they are rejecting is the Gospel and the Lord Jesus. Nothing to do with you in the least.
So how do we handle that? Again, easy…
Matthew 10:14 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet. (KJV)
Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and move on. In other words, some will… some won’t… so what… next.
So you see, you are already equipped to share the gospel from the mere fact that you are a student of Bible Prophecy and a watchman on the wall.
The real issue is not anything that you pointed out really. The real issue is exercising the muscles you need to use to get yourself out there in boldness and to share the gospel. That is the real issue. It is the same issue we all have. Being bold enough to share.
Here is another way of looking at it. Being bold enough because we care. There are so many that need to hear the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and the Blessed hope of His soon return.
Are we bold enough to care?
We have to. You see, when the last gentile says YES to the Lord, guess what? We strap on the rocket pack and we are in the clouds with Him.
SO.. how soon do you want to go home?
Nike says it best… Just do it.
It is all OJT – On The Job Training. The best way to learn to swim is by getting in the deep end.
Don’t let fear keep you out of the game. You see, being in the game is the best place to be. The reason is that when you are on the bench, you depend on yourself and you are in your comfort zone. But when you are in the game, you depend on God and in His zone.
Remember Peter when he walked on the water? Same thing. Get out of the boat and get in the game. If you look down, you sink. Keep your eyes on Christ Jesus and all will be ok. .
In His Service,
Ray
