Deceptions: How to identify them? Minimize
Location: BlogsEnd Time Money - Wilfred Hahn
Posted by: Wilfred Hahn 10/13/2006 10:13 PM

I am persuaded that the most dangerous tactic of our enemy is deception.  What is so diabolically treacherous about this technique is that we will be unaware that we are indeed being deceived … at least for a time, anyway.

By definition, one can only uncover deception after it is has happened.  On the other hand, if we catch someone or some entity trying to deceive us, we obviously have not been deceived.  In this latter case, some how or in some way, we were alerted to this attempted deception and were able to avoid it.  Why are some alerted to some types of deception, and others not?  Or, why at particular times can the majority of an entire society be deceived?

It’s topic that crossed my mind particularly this week, watching global financial and economic events.  To my perception, the level of deception that is being perpetrated in global financial circles and money systems is simply unprecedented.  Its scale and implied collusion literally leaves me speechless … again and again.  However, by collusion I don‘t necessarily mean an organized conspiracy by the Illuminati or the Bilderbergers or any such other purported group.  (By the way, in the near future, I'll be posting an article on this topic called Fatal Attraction - OWO Theories.)

It certainly may appear to be a conspiracy of humans.  In my view, it just happens to be the aggregated result of many individual movers and shakers in policymaking and financial realms, all independently acting in self interest and greed.  Numerous prophetic statements in the Bible clearly indicate that the endtimes will see levels of deception befitting the grand finale of the end of the age.  I believe we live in that time today.

I relate an experience this week that hits square into this topic.  A few Christians contacted me — specifically two that I am thinking of — asking me for financial advice.  More precisely, they were seeking godly advice on their affairs of stewardship.  They weren’t idolatrous, seeking for gain … etc. simply wanting to be good stewards.  The problem?  Though they appeared to be well informed people, they were confused and didn’t know where to turn.  As usual, when I hear these concerns, my heart drops to the floor.  They have every reason to have such concerns because financial conditions today are probably as universally treacherous as never before.  In fact, we can be sure that they are specifically designed — or better said, encouraged — by the Grand Conspirator himself, to lure mankind into a trap, a major component of which is the trap mentioned in Rev. 13:17.

At some point, the False Prophet (the second beast, Rev. 13:11) institutes the system where “buying and selling” are controlled.  That is already possible today.  It likely won’t happen until the second half of the Tribulation and certainly not anytime that financial markets are soaring like they are today.  Revelation 14 makes that clear.  The “mark” is only instituted after the big bust of Babylon the Great, the great trading colossus described in Revelation 18.  (See Rev.14:9, which occurs after the destruction of Babylon the Great mentioned in verse 9)

Seeing how financial developments are manipulated around the world today, one can clearly identify the process of entrapment in this fiat and ensnaring system.  In many nations today, it is already impossible to survive outside of it.  Therefore, many of us are already trapped.

On that note, back to the topic of deception.

Are we being deceived already?  If deception is one of the most treacherous traps we face, how do we guard ourselves?  Is there a sacrifice involved?  What disciplines would you suggest that we as Christians follow?  If only some of us, some of the time, are alerted to certain deceptions, is there a way that the entire body can benefit from these individual discernments?

Hi Wilfred,

First I want to thank you for taking the time to have this blog. I know you are a busy man.

I think the only way we can guard against deception no matter whether it be spiritual, personal or financial is to draw nigh unto God through His Word.

Trying to navigate the mindfields we as modern mankind find ourselves in without the Word of God is futile.

From a financial aspect, since your blog is about money snares, I think a good place to begin, is to find out what God has to say about financial things.

I think we also must learn to trust in Him for our daily bread and needs rather than the ever changing tides of "money". Far to many people are putting their financial eggs in untrustworthy baskets.

I believe as Christians that if we know a deception is taking place, like any good watchman it is our duty to expose it. What people do with it is their responsibilty.

That is why Ray and I appreciate your insight so much. You have a good biblical grasp on financial issues as well as a view from the financial inside.

Tracye (Mrs. Ray)

Hi Wilfred.

Barbara Hendersons here.

It is sort of humorous that you wrote about deception. I was thinking of doing an article about that - with the idea that people are so deceived they are delusional. Many people don't seem to be able to make a sound decision about anything - no matter what sound ideas are presented to them. It is almost like you say one thing - and their mind hears what they want to hear - and it is something entirely different than what was actually said. And they certainly have no idea of any consequence to their actions.

Do you think that is something like the spirit of Maitreya? Isn't the idea of Maitreya that he will speak and people will hear what they want to hear or even see what they want to see?

Isn't it possible that easy deception of people NOW - could lead to utter delusion later?

This s a timely posting or at least it is to me. I find the US indexes and financial markets confusing, and directionless. What I mean by this is one day the fundamentals are promising and the economy appears to be expanding, but the next day the exact opposite appears to be the case, this same scenario seems to play out weekly or at least every month. What is driving this crazy cycle?

Another item I am intrigued by is the amount of corporate and personal debt being racked up, which is staggering, Our economy seems to be propped up by debt, I can’t begin to tell you how many people I have meet that use their homes like a piggy bank to finance a lifestyle that would have been considered a fantasy of only the rich a decade ago. The desire for material possessions, extravagant trips and general one-upmanship is driving people further and further into debt, and is destroying many families in the process. What is scary is most of them don’t see it as debt; they will say things like I am borrowing from my equity, which is like borrowing from myself. Some of you might think that is a true statement, well let me ask you a question. Who do you right that check to every month (with interest)?

All of this does not strike me as good stewardship of what God has given us. I pray frequently that God will give my Family the wisdom necessary to survive in such and environment. Maybe this is not the case for all of you, but this is the way I see it in the Bay Area of California, and raising a Christian family here is like walking through a minefield. We are only able to cross because we are walking in Christ’s footsteps, granted we are not always successful but He is always there with His hand out stretched waiting for us to reach out and to allow Him to pull us up so that we might follow after Him again. I thank God for His Love, Mercy, Grace, and Patience that he has had with me. Also, knowing that God is working all things together for good, for those that love Him gives us great peace in knowing the final outcome.

You’re Brother in Christ,

Bob Greene
